We are excited to share two new leaders to our team at LeConte Medical Center. Our nurse managers provide leadership to the team and oversee patient care of their department. Janet has been with the LeConte team for more than 15 years but is new to her role as emergency department manager. Laura has been with LeConte since 2019 and serves as the new medical surgical unit manager. Learn more about Janet and Laura below.

Janet Tallent, RN, BSN

While Janet is not new to LeConte, she is new to her role as the manager of the emergency department. She joined the LeConte team in 2001 and worked as an ED tech before completing her education to become a nurse. She worked as a registered nurse in the emergency department and as a nursing supervisor before transitioning to a leadership role in the medical/surgical unit.

“I began my career at LeConte in the emergency department and am eager to return to the fast-paced environment I fell in love with,” says Tallent. “I have called this hospital my home for more than 19 years and am appreciative of the physicians and leadership who believe in me to lead our emergency team.”

LeConte Medical Center’s emergency department is one of the busiest in the Covenant Health system and provides care for the local Sevier County community along with tourists from around the world.

Laura Lowe, RN, BSN

Laura has been an RN for more than 19 years and joined our team at LeConte last year. Laura’s past work experience includes nursing in a mother/baby unit, surgery, ICU, telemetry/med-surg unit and a pulmonary/med-surg unit. With her extensive experience in different nursing areas, Laura is an asset to our LeConte team.

“I am thrilled to have been selected as the new manager of the Medical Surgical unit and to have the opportunity to lead such a passionate team of nurses and support staff. I am proud to be part of our team here at LeConte Medical Center and to have the opportunity to provide excellent care for our community.” says Lowe.

Lowe will supervise the 42-bed medical surgical unit which is comprised of patients with varying medical issues and patients who are preparing for or recovering from surgery.
