Ashe Kearney, RN, Receives The DAISY Award for Outstanding Patient Care
Have you ever received over-the-top, “above and beyond” care when it mattered most? Patients and their families can submit nominations to recognize the extraordinary efforts our nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is part of The DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize outstanding performance and service given by dedicated registered nurses.
The most recent recipient of this award at LeConte Medical Center is labor and delivery nurse Ashe Kearney, RN, who works the night shift at LeConte’s Dolly Parton Birthing Unit.
Kearney helps women through all phases of labor, delivery and postnatal care. The Dolly Parton Birthing Unit staff also cares for patients who undergo procedures related to reproductive health. A patient who recently had Kearney as her night nurse had such excellent care that she nominated Kearney for some much deserved recognition.
The DAISY Award nomination read, “She was the absolute embodiment of all that a nurse should be! This cannot go unacknowledged. I feel she moved heaven and earth to help me feel better.” The letter goes on to describe the patient’s immense appreciation for the kindness and care shown by Kearney. “She had so much compassion, patience and the love she shows her patients leaps at the seams! This nurse is an absolute gem. She absolutely showed her love for her job, and that is truly rare. Best nurse I have ever had!”
Kearney was presented with a certificate, a pin, The Healer’s Touch sculpture and a daisy floral arrangement.
Nurses may be nominated by patients, families and colleagues. Recipients are selected by a committee at LeConte Medical Center to receive The DAISY Award. To nominate a nurse for this award, visit LeConteMedicalCenter.com/Daisy.
