Welcome Tim Hoskins, Sports Medicine Manager
LeConte Medical Center welcomes Tim Hoskins, Covenant Health’s new corporate manager of sports medicine. Hoskins will oversee the management and expansion of Covenant Health’s high school athletic trainer program to other schools throughout the region.
Hoskins has 22 years of experience as an athletic trainer at the high school, college and professional levels. He previously managed Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Outreach and community sports medicine program.
The goal of Covenant Health’s sports medicine program is to minimize the risk of injuries that can occur during play. LeConte Sports Medicine began providing athletic trainers for Sevier County high schools in 2001, and the program has expanded to other counties in recent years. Since the program’s inception, the re-injury rate for student athletes has dropped from 25 percent (a one-in-four chance that an injured student would suffer another injury) to less than one percent.
When asked about his goals for overseeing sports medicine for Covenant Health, Hoskins responded, “To provide the best possible care that we can. It sounds cliché, but it’s the truth. Keeping our students healthy and safe, and improving how we handle student athletes’ continuity of care is a top priority.”
