Top Marks for Safety, Patient Care

LeConte Medical Center is once again at the top of the class in safety, quality and affordability. The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit health care ratings organization, has recognized LeConte Medical Center for high standards in patient care, awarding the hospital an ‘A’ grade in Leapfrog’s Fall 2020 safety scores.

Gaye Jolly, President/CAO of LeConte Medical Center

“We are honored to receive an ‘A’ from the Leapfrog Group,” said Gaye Jolly, chief administrative officer of LeConte Medical Center. “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to excellent care that puts the patient first in everything we do.”

LeConte Medical Center also received an ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog in Spring 2020. Letter grades are assigned to   more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice each year. Scores are peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grade rates how well hospitals protect patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The ratings are developed under the guidance of a national expert panel using 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data.

“We are proud to offer our local community – along with tourists from around the world – elite healthcare right here in Sevier County,” Jolly said. In addition to the latest ‘A’ safety grade, LeConte Medical Center has been nationally recognized as a Newsweek’s “Best Maternity Hospital 2020,” an honor that is awarded by the magazine in partnership with Leapfrog. LeConte is one of only four hospitals in Tennessee to receive this distinction.

“LeConte also has national accreditations in several specialty areas, including certification as an advanced primary stroke center,” Jolly said. “I am very proud of the entire healthcare team at LeConte Medical Center and all of our achievements in patient safety and quality.”
