LeConte Medical Center Honors Fourth DAISY Award Recipient

LeConte Medical Center is Proud to Announce our Fourth Recipient of the DAISY Award.

Rosa Charles, NP has earned The DAISY Award for her hard work and commitment to taking excellent care of her patients on our labor and delivery floor.

The DAISY Foundation was formed in November, 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The nursing care Patrick received when hospitalized profoundly touched his family, and they started the foundation to allow patients and families to celebrate the care they receive all over the world.

A mother who recently delivered her baby at LeConte wrote about Rosa in her nomination:

“I’m not sure where to start about this woman – she was surely my angel! This woman literally saved my life.

After the delivery of my baby, Rosa took such awesome care of me. She went above and beyond to make sure my every need was met. The day I was supposed to be discharged, Rosa saw that I was retaining fluid and identified an infection that very well could have been life threatening. This woman made sure the doctor took another look. I ended up in ICU that evening. Later the next day, I went back to L&D. My same nurse cared for us up until the last day. This woman is the most courteous, knowledgeable and amazing nurse I could have asked for. She is my angel and I hope she is around LeConte for a long time to be the same for other patients. This lady is such a great asset to your facility!”

Thank you Rosa for always putting our patients first and taking excellent care of each of them!
