Eric Davidson Receives Cardiac Service Excellence Award

Posted on April 2, 2021

Ultrasound Tech Recognized for Excellent Cardiac Service

Eric Davidson, an ultrasound tech at LeConte Medical Center, was one of six Covenant Health employees to receive a Cardiac Services Excellence Award for 2020. This annual award recognizes exemplary care of heart patients, outstanding performance in cardiac services and commitment to Covenant Health’s Standards and Behaviors and Pledge of Excellence.

Davidson received his award on March 10, 2021 from members of the LeConte Medical Center leadership team and his supervisors.

Davidson has worked at LeConte for the last 13 years, and has been an ultrasound tech for 11 years. He was nominated for the award by a member of the leadership staff at LeConte Medical Center and was selected as a recipient for his outstanding work and contributions within his department.

“It was not my original plan to be an ultrasound tech,” says Davidson. “My goal was to become a nurse anesthetist. But I did some observations in vascular ultrasound, and I found it very interesting.”

Davidson completed numerous training programs to become an ultrasound tech and enjoys his profession. “I take pictures for a living, which is fun, and those pictures are used to help people,” he says. “I feel like God has closed doors and opened others to lead me to a job that was right for me.”

LeConte’s echocardiography department is one of six in the state to be accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in three modalities: adult transthoracic, adult stress and adult transesophageal. More than 29,000 echocardiology exams have been performed at LeConte Medical Center in the last 10 years.

Noted for his dependability, Davidson’s nomination included praise for his commitment to Covenant Health’s Pledge of Excellence. By “living his pledge,” Davidson demonstrates excellence in everything he does, is patient-oriented and strives to make Covenant Health the first and best choice for patients. The nomination notes that Davidson is frequently requested by name to perform echo tests because of his professionalism and personable nature.

In addition to the honor, Davidson received a scholarship to use toward continued education. The team at LeConte Medical Center thanks Davidson for his passion and commitment and is proud to present him with the Cardiac Services Excellence Award.
