New Speech Program available for those with Parkinson's
LeConte Therapy Services is pleased to now offer a new speech therapy specialized for individuals with Parkinson’s disease at their outpatient clinic in Sevierville. Individuals with Parkinson’s disease often complain of having a soft voice, mumbled speech, and a hoarse vocal quality.
Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT-Loud) is a proven speech treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease with effects proven to last at least 2 years. Goals of the treatment include improved vocal loudness, improved speech intelligibility, and improved facial expression.
Ann Lee, Speech Pathologist with LeConte Medical Center has recently completed the certification program for LSVT-Loud, and is eager to work with locals who suffer from Parkinson’s disease. Participants in the LSVT-Loud outpatient speech therapy program would complete 16 individual therapy sessions (four 1-hour sessions weekly, for 4 weeks).
A physician’s order is necessary to participate in this new outpatient speech therapy program. For more information about the program available at LeConte Therapy Services contact Ann Lee at 865.429.6584, ext. 13.
